A Quick Hello

Every week I tell myself I'm going to post more. I'm going to do better. Then another week goes by.

I took a couple days off work this week so we could paint our bedroom and get some other projects done around the house. It's not going as planned.

Work is still very busy. I just got a call from one of our pastors (Tuesday 9:30pm) about an outside door propped open. On the first floor, no windows, front of building, next to a very busy street... I called the custodian and he closed it. I've contacted our security manager and facility manager.

We celebrated Father's Day this past Sunday as Diana and Peter are spending the actual day in New Jersey with his family. We went to The Cheesecake Factory for lunch, then to their house for pie and games. Have you ever played Phase 10? (Did I ask you this before?) Anyway, years ago my family played Frustration Rummy. It's very similar but I think Phase 10 is more frustrating! I lose every time.

I'm going to get ready for bed. It's not quite 10:00 and I can hardly keep my eyes open. We got part of the bedroom painted today, cleaned everything up so we can sleep tonight, and we'll hopefully finish up tomorrow.

What We've Been Up To

Last week was just amazing. I'm sitting here just staring at the screen because I don't know how to describe it. Our time of prayer and fasting was powerful and I'll be spending weeks digging deeper into everything I read and heard.

Plus I was so busy! It's amazing how much time there was because I wasn't on the computer all the time. It's scary how many hours I spend on this thing.

Spring is all over the place here in the great northwest!

I had Beth clean out her fridge and we defrosted her freezer.

 

I'm in the middle of painting our den. It was Diana's room and she had painted it green with a black stripe. It looked really cool but I'm repainting it with white and yellow and it's been quite the job painting over the darker colors!

I was at work every day this last week preparing for Easter services. I helped the custodians clean and set up rooms, plus there were landscapers, window washers... this was my first Easter being in this position of Supervisor so there was a lot to do!

 We all went out to the Cheesecake Factory for lunch today. I don't remember ever being there before and oh my word, it was SO good! 

Then Sharaya and Allie came over and we played Mexican Train and Sharaya hid some eggs in the backyard for Allie to find.

 

Then Sharaya went grocery shopping while Allie and I played with her legos. We laughed so hard!

 

 I missed you all and thought about you so much last week! I'm glad to be back and will spend the next few days getting caught up on your posts.

So We Let Her Go With The Bright Pink... With One Stipulation

Remember when I said we tried to talk Beth out of painting her room a very bright pink? Well, we decided it is her room after all so we told her she could paint one wall the bright pink but the other walls would need to be a softer shade and she agreed. 👍 

This is what the room looked like before we started painting. Diana painted it this way when it was her room and she did it completely by herself, all in just one weekend! (And she painted two other rooms as well that weekend!)

In this picture I'm standing by the door looking back toward the bedroom. She doesn't like sleeping in the actual bedroom so that will become her kitchen. We'll put her dining room table in there and her refrigerator and kitchen cabinets. This large room will be her bedroom on one side and her living room on the other.

This is after I had put on the primer. When the guy at Home Depot heard what colors we were trying to cover, he suggested I use a gray primer rather than white. It was a great idea, but the color he gave me was way too dark of a gray. We ended up having to do two coats of the pink to cover the gray. But I love doing a gray primer! It covered the original paint really well.

 She chose such a light pink for the rest of the room that it really compliments the bright pink. I like the way it turned out!

Now we just need to clean everything up and bring her furniture back downstairs. I'm so ready to have my house back and she's ready to have hers! 

It's Over

My vacation, that is. One of our ministries had a meeting so I set up, served them lunch then tore down after it was over so today I officially went 'back to work'.


We really had a great week. Seattle had great weather! Monday it was in the high 70's; Diana and I sat outside all day. I didn't lift a finger. Didn't cook dinner, didn't do the dishes, nothin'. It was glorious!

The rest of the week I just did random stuff around the house. Watched the kids come and go to their various activities. On Friday I buckled down and actually painted the kitchen. It's not done yet but it's going to look so nice! Our kitchen has been an eggshell color and I'm painting it Pale Daffodil. It's yellow without being YELLOW, if you know what I mean. Diana used the roller on the big wall while I used a brush on the smaller areas. I thought Beth might come up and help but after she got home from job class, she went downstairs and didn't come up again until dinner!

Saturday we babysat Allie so we went out for ice cream, then went to the beach. It was low tide so we walked out to the water and threw rocks. We sat on some driftwood and layed on the grass for a while. It was a relaxing way to end the week.
