Shotgun!

We used to play this game when the kids were younger. You know, whoever yells Shotgun! gets to sit in the passenger seat.

When Sharaya and Diana started driving, the game kinda went by the wayside. But recently Beth has started playing it again. And she's a serious competitor!

She often will yell Shotgun! as we're headed out the door and none of us are prepared for it! She'll let out a squeal like she's just won the lottery and run to the passenger door.

Then whoever's not driving is resigned to sit in the back. She just loves it! :)

The other night, it was my turn. That little stinker.

What is There to Write About?

There just hasn't been much to write about.

School is out for the summer so Beth is no longer volunteering at the school on Thursdays. She's still working, still bowling and still rehearsing for Grease. Sometimes just for fun, I'll call her Frenchy. "Hey Frenchy, would you empty the dishwasher?" "Oh stop it!" :)

Chuck has been working a lot of overtime so he's had the van on my days off. I've been staying home and cleaning out drawers and cupboards. I'm getting a lot done!

Our cherry tree is so full this year! Usually the birds get to them before we do but this year I've hung some shiny things on it and they're leaving it alone! I read that birds don't like things that are shiny and it seems to be working. It's been nice to finally enjoy the fruits of our labor. Literally!

My hydrangea bushes are exploding this year. Last year, this bush didn't even get leaves until September! And then it only had 3 blooms. This year, it's turning out beautiful. I usually prune them in the fall, when they are brown and look bad but I was told that was the wrong time of year. So this year I pruned it at the end of winter, beginning of spring and I think that made the difference. I'm anxious to see it in full bloom!

Help! I'm an Old Person Trying to Use the Computer!

I'm trying to remove my Blogger Template and put in one from Cutest Blog on the Block but I can't figure it out.

Been sitting here for more than an hour... I can add TCBOTB template, but the Blogger template sort of overrides it, and TCBOTB template only shows up half way down my blog.

When I go to Layout, I see Adventures With Beth (header) and I want to remove that, don't I? Below it I can Add a Gadget and when I do that, it puts TCBOTB below the Blogger template. (Is this making sense?)

So how do I remove the header? Or am I supposed to remove the header???

Ya Gotta Read the Small Print

Beth has 2 kinds of shopping: grocery shopping and 'shopping for fun'.

Shopping for fun means the mall or Target. FUN stuff!

On Monday we went grocery shopping. She grabbed her basket and I got a cart. We were only getting a few things and went through the aisles pretty quickly.

Here she's contemplating which granola bars to buy.

I needed to buy some paprika so we went down the aisle with the spices. As we walk up to it she does a wide sweep with her hand and very excitedly says, "They're all free!!"

Then I showed her the tag and how it says if you buy two, then you get one more for free. It's always important to read the small print.

"Oh."

MOF

On Thursday night we all went to the Museum of Flight. I've been looking forward to this for weeks! I'm fascinated by airplanes so to be able to see them up close was so exciting!

When I told Beth we'd be able to go inside some of them, she was a little worried. The last time her and Diana were on a plane, they were flying from Colorado to Seattle and Beth was more then scared. She's been afraid of heights for the last 10 years or so and the last time on a place really frightened her. So I assured her that the planes were not taking off. She smiled, "Oh!"

Allie on the other hand was disappointed they weren't actually going anywhere! She's been on a plane and loves to fly!

We've never been there before and I was afraid we wouldn't be able to see everything so I just kind of skimmed through it all. After 2 1/2 hours, we still didn't see it all! It was just amazing! The huge variety of planes, the immense size of some of them, the history.

We got to go into the very first Air Force One. The same plane that President Johnson was on when he was inaugurated after Kennedy was assassinated; we got to get up close and personal with a 747; Allie got to sit in the cockpit of a fighter jet... there was so much to see and do! We definitely plan to go again soon!

There was a simulation of the jet engine so she covered her ears. :)

We went into the WWII exhibit and Beth and I found ourselves sitting directly under the wing of a plane.

I told her about how my mom had always wanted to be a pilot and even took ROTC in high school. Her parents wouldn't let her though and she never realized her dream.

There really were a LOT of planes!!

Around and Around

Beth, Allie and I went out for frozen yogurt last week. The weather was so warm, it just hit the spot! Beth is taking a Bod4God class to help her lose weight and one of the things they tell you to do is park far away from the store, your job, etc. and walk the extra distance. So I purposely parked a couple blocks away.

After yogurt, we went to the park. Allie loves this blue swing. Whenever I tell her we're going to the park, she always asks, "The one with the blue swing?!?"

Then she rode her bike around.

And around.

And around!! At first she was going really slow and Beth and I walked with her but then she was riding faster and faster. Beth decided to wait on a bench while I ran behind.

Then it was back home for lunch. Allie asked if she could eat downstairs with Beth... and Beth said yes! She usually doesn't like people to eat down there with her, but she's letting Allie come downstairs more often. I love that they're becoming closer as Allie gets older.
