Moving Right Along, Saying Thank You, and It Was Time

Beth bought a couple boxes of gourmet cookies to give to the DART drivers, the dispatchers and others who work to get her where she needs to go. I'm not always sure how companies are handling the latest strain of covid so I didn't want to make something at home. So she included a small tray they could set all the cookies on when he got back to the base, along with a card thanking all of them for helping her.

One week after Thanksgiving our staff at work got together and... decorated for Christmas! Each department decorates a different area and it usually takes us about three hours, then we order pizza and all have lunch together.

This is the area where I worked, helping to put up and decorate this tree, then my boss and I hung white stars from the ceiling. The same stars as on top of the trees.

I love the way our church looks at Christmas. I wish we could leave it up all year!

It was time for some shoe shopping this week. Beth couldn't find the same shoes she's worn lately so she tried on some Sauconys. They're the shoes I bought for our Israel trip in May and they're fantastic. I wore them exclusively in Israel and almost constantly since we got home, and they just now need to be replaced.

She did her usual strut walk around the aisles (her stride is not that big when she's walking!) and decided to buy a pair. I bought another pair too.

What is it about shopping? Walking out of a store with an arm load of bags just makes you feel so good, doesn't it?! I hope you've had a good weekend!

Swollen Feet, New Shoes, Doctor's Appointment

We took Beth shoe shopping the other day. We've noticed her feet and ankles are swollen so we found some compression socks at DSW for $10! Chuck wears them too and his were a lot more than that! We only bought one pair. At that low price we weren't sure how good they would be. While we were there we decided to get her some new shoes.

For many years she would say she liked the shoes while we were in the store but she'd never wear them. She'd eventually tell us they hurt her feet. Sigh.

So I learned to have her walk all over the store before buying. Thankfully she's at an age now where she does tell me if they are comfortable or not.

She loves the compression socks and wears them every day. I'm also seeing a difference in her feet and calves so I know they're working. Now we need to go get more. She has a doctor's appointment this evening and hopefully we'll find out why her legs are swelling.

Sorry this is short. we just got back from Iowa and I'm jet lagged! I'll write more later.

Bandages, Shopping Malls, and New Smells

I finally got Beth into the Department of Licensing to renew her state ID! It expired in 2019 and I just never got it done. I got her the REAL ID so she doesn't have to bring her passport with her every time we fly. The guy was so kind and even showed us all her previous photos with the different headbands, pink, blue, purple...! He complimented her on her signature and said it looked like a beautiful drawing. We left there and stopped for lunch before going to the mall.

Chuck and I are going to a Seattle Mariners game in a few weeks so I'm looking for a new team shirt. We parked at the opposite side of the mall from our usual place and found out the team store isn't there anymore! I needed up walking the full length of the mall to find another one. She didn't want to make the trek so she found a seat and settled in with her phone. Course I prayed as I walked away, "Lord protect her. If anyone even thinks about harming her let them see your ministering angels...! Sure enough, she was right there when I got back. 😄

Then we went to DSW to get some new shoes. Chuck and I got some new arch supports a few weeks ago and I've needed some new walking shoes, and Beth needed some too.

She also went to the doctor a few days ago for a blood draw to check on medicine levels. She takes thyroid medicine and every 6 months she's got to get checked. She holds her arm out and straight like this for a long time. I have to convince her that it's okay to use her arm, even with the bandage.

Chuck, Sharaya, Diana, Poppy and I went for a walk at a local park. It's about a half mile from our house, so we walk there and then walk the loop a few times before heading back. It's right on the edge of a forest area and it's always so cool and pretty. Poppy loved all the new smells!

Thank you for stopping by. I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Jammin'!!

We went shoe shopping tonight.
She tried them on and squealed because she liked them so much!

Our rule is that she has to walk around the store.
There were too many times that we'd buy the shoes and when we got home, she'd never wear them. She couldn't tell me why she didn't like them, she just didn't.

So now she has to walk around the store.

This time she liked them so much she spun around and at one point, even started dancing!

A Rare Night at the Mall

Beth and I went to the mall the other night. I parked by a store that's in the middle of the mall, something I rarely do. (I always park at one end of the mall, the same end every time. There's a parking garage, plus at the end of the shopping spree, I don't have to wonder where I parked!) We went in and walked 1/2 the mall, to Payless Shoe Store and each bought some shoes! She got some black tennis shoes with thick soles and solid sides to them. Beth has flat feet and always needs to wear good, solid shoes that support her feet and ankles. I bought brown flats that are the exact same color as a new pair of pants. I love it when that happens!

She then wanted a CD so we walked the entire length of the mall to FYE. She found a CD that she doesn't have yet (another rare thing - a CD that she doesn't own!) and we started the walk back. Of course we stopped at Auntie Annes for a small root beer. She bought her own and when she ordered, she looked right at the cashier and boldy gave him her order! I was very impressed.

We made a pit stop at the Disney Store. She didn't find anything she wanted. Another rare thing! :)

Finally headed out to the car. Her back hurt from all that walking she but did great! We had a fun night.
