Around The Yard

When we were in Denver, oh it must have been about 10 years ago now there were wild rabbits everywhere. I thought it was the most unusual thing to see these things just hanging around buildings, hoping down sidewalks... you didn't see that kind of thing here!

A couple years ago when we got some snow I noticed these prints that looked like rabbits but "Couldn't be, we don't have them around here." Now, every spring they appear.

I pulled into the driveway the other day to see one eating some clover. He (she?) just sat there while I took some pictures, happily munching away. They sure are cute!

My roses are blooming. Along with the foxglove, and blackberry bushes! Can't wait to have blackberry cobbler this summer!

Do you have fruit that grows wild where you live?

Is there a favorite dish you like to have in the summer?

Love your happy pictures of the bunnies and the flowers. I love to see the bunnies eating the clover in the grass. We really don't have bunnies at this house, but we had a lot of them at our last home in the woods. As far as wild fruit, blackberries grow along the roads and in the wooded areas, but the birds get them before we do. Where we walk there are wild persimmon trees growing, and they are loaded with fruit, but I tasted one last year before it was totally ripe enough and that was a very unpleasant experience. I am not a persimmon fan at all. There are also wild plums, but they didn't produce very many this year. They are very small, and really only good for the wildlife. At our last house we had lots of wild grapevines, and one year I had enough grapes to make a lot of jelly. It was a lot of work, however. Welches' natural grape jelly is just as good. I like the "natural" variety because it doesn't have high fructose corn syrup in it. Much better tasting. Also I buy a brand of seedless blackberry jam that doesn't have HFCS in it, and it is much better too. Enjoy your lovely flowers and berries. We've had a lot of blueberries this year. They don't grow wild, but I planted some and there is also a blueberry farm here, so we could get them fresh. Great for pies, cobblers, and just eating fresh on cereal, etc. or in muffins. Have a wonderful weekend.

So pretty with the flowers! I like to see bunnies around people's yards and have had them at previous houses but not now since mostly everyone around here has brick cement walls, us included. I really am not sure what fruit might grow wild here. Since it is desert land it would have to be something very hardy to withstand the heat and little moisture.

I love bunnies in the yard, though my gardening friends don't agree with me! Favorite summer dish...corn on the cob and fresh fruit from the fruit stand!

We saw bunnies in Denver too!! The kids were so excited the first couple of times, but then they became just part of the scenery.
Love,

Hi Cindy~

Love the bunnies! We occasionally see them here, but not very often, they are adorable!

Your flowers are beautiful, and I must say, i am a little envious of the blackberries...nothing better than blackberry cobbler!

Hugs,
Barb

AAHHHH- bunny!!!! I love little bunnies.
We've got to be careful when mowing because there's always little nests tucked down in the grass

We had lots of wild bunnies when we lived in Kenmore. None here yet. We have other wild animals, though. :) Nice blooms in your yard!

Your flowers are beautiful. We have a lemon tree in our yard. We also have bunnies and since our dog passed away last September I put out some organic carrots for them in the evening.
