Why? Why Do I Treat Her That Way?

Why do I have to grill her about the hangers? Isn't it enough that she's come upstairs to get more hangers because I asked her to hang up her clothes? It seems every time I see her I tell her what to do, why to do it, how to do it, when to do it and who to do it with!!

No wonder she doesn't want me to watch her at Athletics or hides her face when I come into the room. When will I just allow her to live? Allow her to grow? When will I allow her to go about her day without being grilled about e.v.e.r.y.t.h.i.n.g?

When will I learn??

because you love her and it takes a while to learn new ways of demonstrating love when we are trying to parent adults!!! Yikes! Look at all the things you have given her and the opportunities created! Don't forget the gifts you have given. But let me tell you, I can join you any day, any hour, any minute on the nag/questioning couch. Maybe we can get our girls to give us a time out there at the same time and we can drink coffee and laugh and maybe read a Psalm or two!

Letting go is hard, that's why! Maybe you can make some goals for yourself, like, "this week at athletics I will stay in the car." Or...if Beth is capable of staying without you there, take a few minutes to yourself and go get a cup of coffee! Beth will savor every ounce of independence you're able to give her.
