Last Minute But Really Needed!

We decided to drive down to Portland on Saturday. The weather was supposed to be sunny and Chuck had the day off and we were ready for a change of scenery! Sharaya and Ally (she wants it spelled with a 'y' now) 😊 decided to come with us and we had such a great time!

First stop was a viewpoint overlooking the Columbia River.

That little dome was our next stop

This is Vista House, built in 1917 and it was so pretty up there but SO windy!! We could actually lean into the wind!

The trees were all like this, branches facing one direction!

Can you see the one branch wrapped around the trunk?

Next we were off to the waterfalls ~

Sharaya and I walked up this little path to get a better view

I needed a bit of nature this weekend.

Then it was off to the next one ~

I hope you all get a much needed break this week!

Some of us need them more than others!

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Niagara Falls

Chuck went to Niagara Falls when he was 15 but Beth and I had never been there. It was cold and raining but really beautiful!

We left the parking lot and walked around the grounds, past the gift shop and Visitor's Center and went down to the Niagara River.

We followed the river down to the falls and were just amazed by the view!

The falls on the far right are on the Canada side. I hear the view is better over there but we loved the view from this side!

You could pay a little extra to walk out on a bridge to get a better view but because we were wet and cold, we decided to go back to the Visitor's Center and have some hot chocolate!

We weren't there for a long time, but it was so fun to finally see them! We felt the spray and could certainly hear the power of the falls!

Deception Falls Photos

Sharaya suggested this place on our way home from Leavenworth and it was beautiful! It was a very short walk to the falls and they didn't disappoint!

We continued across the bridge, up some stairs and under the highway overpass!

Going back down we crossed back over the bridge and
spotted another bridge farther down the river so we had to go check it out!

Down here it was quiet and much more secluded. We walked out on the rocks and were able to explore a little more.

They found a caterpillar!

It was such a great day!
