Hi everyone,
Last night was very blustery. It was cold, we had a lot of heavy rain, and there were pretty strong wind gusts (for us anyway.) Our lights flickered a few times and even went out once. Just for a few seconds. Long enough where we had to reset all the clocks. Today our yard and driveway are full of small branches and twigs. And the car windshields are covered with pine needles. Wet pine needles. I'm very grateful though that all the tall evergreen trees remained upright. One of my constant prayers during this time of year.
Speaking of trees, we live in a small greenbelt and I've been keeping my eye on this one tree in a neighbors yard that was really dead. I walked outside the other day to see a tree trimmer taking it down! I'm so relieved it never fell and landed on our homes or cars. Can you see that little orange dot where the trunk ends and the branches begin? That's the guy just starting to remove all the branches.
I took part in a Holiday Market last weekend. I've made my own greeting cards for more than 20 years but I just started selling them last year. Once we all get set up it's fun to walk around and see what everyone else has made. Then when it opens the people flow in and they stop to talk, sometimes more than shop. I loved it though. I think we're all desperate for connection.
That's my table at the bottom.
I was washing dishes the other day and saw the sun shining on the trees across the street. I turned off the water and ran out to get a picture. This is my view from the kitchen and dining room and I love watching these leaves change every year.
Let's see, what else. Chuck is in Denver visiting his sister. She had a stroke 20 years ago and has been paralyzed on her right side. Last year at this time she broke her right ankle and has been in and out of hospitals and rehab centers ever since. She hasn't been home in over a year. So he's there helping out where he can for a few days.
That's about all from here. I hope you're having a good start to the fall season. Are you as shocked as I am that November starts the end of this week?

The market day looks fun, I hope you did well there. My sister and I used to do crafts with our youth group and sell them at the Christmas craft fair at the school every year...grapevine wreaths and ornaments. I cannot believe that November is coming on so soon, I am very out of touch with what day it is, strange as it sounds, I keep thinking it's like the 15th...:)
Great job on your display for the sale. Hope you were able to sell some cards. It's that time of year when the color surprises us. It's so pretty. We heard about the powerful winds on your side of the mountains.
Your cards are very beautiful and I know whoever receives or purchases one knows they have something very special. I can also see why you were so relieved to have that tree gone. It was very dead and huge! That man looks so tiny on it.
I'm shocked too that November is already here. I'm not ready. I still have 4 pair of socks to knit before December 10! I don't think I'm going to make it, but I guess I can always work on the ones for our kids here while we're traveling.
Take care and enjoy your Monday.
Blessings,
Betsy
Yes, I am shocked that it's November already. Time is just going way too fast for me now.
The fall trees are so pretty! That is a nice picture of you are the fall market. I have been in a few and I still like to do crafts. Have a nice week!
That dread tree is so so tall - I wouldn't have known it was that tall if not for the dot of orange. Perspective. Speaking of perspective - your view is so pretty. What a great display of color. I love your involvement in the craft market. My grandma used to sell her wares at craft shows and I went with her a few times. Always fun and festive. All the participants were so friendly. Nice of Chuck to help his sister out. Sorry to hear of her health struggles. That sounds so challenging.
Yes, to your last question! October flew by. That tree is HUGE and thank goodness it was taken down before it caused catastrophy! Your table and cards looked great! I hope you had some sales! Beautiful view from your kitchen! Wow! I am sorry to hear about your sister-in-law and hope she is recovering from her broken ankle. I'm sure having Chuck there to help for a few days is good for her emotionally, even more than for the physical help. Wishing him safe travels home and that you will all have a blessed new month ahead!
