Hi,
A few posts ago I talked about how I showed up for the Harvest Party to find the lead custodian had to leave early. Well, turns out he's been under a lot of stress at home, in ministry, and then at work so he ended up stepping down from that position and I'm back to being Supervisor again. This is the busiest time for us so to try to hire and train someone now wouldn't work. I'm glad I took those couple months to rest while I had the chance! We'll look for new candidates after the first of the year.
Last night we made it through a Bomb Cyclone. I remember having one or two others in the years we've lived in Seattle but they are rare. And I think this one was the worst.

On the right you can see Washington, Oregon and Northern California
They said we had 75 MPH wind gusts, that's strong for this area. And we had so many downed trees. Our power went out around 8:30 last night and I hear a very sad, "Nooooo!" from downstairs. Beth and I got out the flashlights and she came upstairs to hang out with me. She doesn't like to be downstairs when the power's out.
About that time Chuck texted me. He was working - driving a city bus - when he came across a downed tree across the road. The police were already there so he stopped and called dispatch. Then he hears a large crack and a tree had fallen and hit the back of his bus! Thankfully he was in a 60 footer so he wasn't injured at all. The police came over and took pictures and then he waited until a metro supervisor arrived. He ended up not getting home until after midnight.
I know not everyone faired as well as we did. I was thanking the Lord for how good we had it. I've been watching the Weather Channel and it looks like the rest of the country is going through some storms. I pray you all stay safe!

Wow! That was quite the storm! So glad you are all safe and no serious damage to your home, but it looks like the tree on the bus was really too close for comfort! So thankful no one was hurt! Sorry about the staff issues at work, but thankful you are able to step back in and fill in that spot until a replacement can be found. I know it is difficult to be short-handed going into the holidays, which I am sure are the busiest time of the year for you. Praying for you and your energy to hold up! We are all fine here in our part of the country. That storm that was supposed to come up through the Gulf of Mexico and bring us rain must've fizzled out or went another direction, because we didn't get one drop of rain! We really could use some rain, but I'm thankful there wasn't any kind of severe weather here. Our part of the country has had more than its share this year! Take care and stay strong!!
Your home looks cozy with the fireplace and lights. What a relief. Well, I guess I know one thing that will be on your thankfulness list this TG -- a bus that is 60 feet long and a tree that fell on the back of it. So glad Chuck is OK. Take care.
Wow, glad Chuck wasn't hurt when that tree landed on the bus. Good thing it was in the very rear of the bus. Both sets of our kids didn't lose power. Our oldest have had friends come over to use their showers and have a hot meal. Hope things get sorted soon and all the power comes back and streets are clear.
Wow! I am so glad you are all safe and sound! Your home looks so cozy. Have a safe evening, my friend!
Scary stuff!! I feel for you. We just went through Helene and Milton. I'm glad your power wasn't out for too long and that your hubby wasn't hurt when the tree fell on his bus. I'm with Beth on not wanting to be downstairs, in the dark!! So glad you are all safe!
That was a close call for Chuck. So thankful he was driving an extra long bus and wasn't hurt. That must have been some crazy wind. We have 65-75 mph now and then but we don't have trees!!
What a cozy look your fireplace and sconces have. Sweet Beth tucked in your recliner is a precious picture. Hope she is feeling better these days.
