Perfect Timing

Almost every year we drive about an hour and a half north to see the tulip fields. Sometimes we go too early and the tulips aren't quite open yet. This was in 2018, I think:

But I think this year it was perfect timing!

Sharaya and Beth made the long trek out to the fields but it was too hot for the rest of us. I never thought I'd be the one to say mid 70's was too hot, but it was! It seems the older I get the less I can tolerate the sun. That's a hard thing to admit for this California girl.

Roozengaard has a garden area with gorgeous displays of flowers. Plus they have fields of tulips, just rows and rows of them!

See where all those people are coming and going? There's a tiny sliver of color out there and those are the rest of the fields. Not sure why there was so much empty space between the gardens and fields this year.

And we took our traditional family photo by the windmill. Next year Diana and Peter will get to join us!

Do you have any Spring traditions?

Are there any you used to do but don't anymore?

Any that you want to start?

No "real" spring traditions here, other than going to the Parksdale Farm for strawberries at the end of February (spring in FL). The tulips are just gorgeous! All that glorious color! You really did hit it at the perfect time!! Thanks for sharing! xo

When my daughter lived in Tacoma my other daughter and I visited and the three of us went to Roozengaarde. So so pretty! I am so happy I saw the tulip fields in bloom. I follow them on Instagram and still love seeing their photos. Nothing like being there in person though. So glad you hit them at peak!

Oh how pretty! I bet gorgeous to see it in person! In Carlsbad in Southern California they had flower fields which bloomed this time of year. Equally as pretty. Some of the fields were taken away to make Legoland; not sure if the rest are still there as we have been out of the area for 6 years now :)

Looked like a fun family outing! Glad you all who came could enjoy it :)

Oh those flowers are so beautiful! I don't have any spring traditions but it would be fun to start one. Maybe take a walk on one of our trails. We've lived in Arizona nearly four years and haven't walked on any of the local easy to walk trails or even visited the Grand Canyon!

Dropping in from a country that has Spring all year. We don't have the 4 seasons, its bright and sunny every day (sometimes too sunny and it gets too hot). So we have flowers all year but NO tulips. Tulips are flown in once every year and then sold with the proceeds going to charity. Your pixs of the tulips are so brillant and the colours too. Wish i could visit a tulip farm. Following your interesting blog

I use to live in Seattle but had no idea! I would love to see flowers like this one day. Tulips are great I have been thinking of buying some but not sure it is getting too late in the season now.
