We had 9 straight days of rain and when the sun finally came out everybody went outside! I went out to the backyard to take some pictures and the sun went behind some black clouds (see it between the trees?) It was so nice to finally see some blue skies!
Our church held it's second Trunk and Treat on Saturday. We usually have a big Harvest Party inside with games, inflatables and food, but when covid hit we did a drive through Trunk and Treat last year and this year it was a walk through. They had a little clicker thing and counted 1300 people in about 3 hours! Chuck had the day off so he was able to come with us this year. It was so cold, only 45 degrees, I'm so glad we brought thermoses of tea and cider! I'm not usually one to dress up and do stuff like this but it really is fun. At least 3 parents told me their toddlers had just watched Winnie the Pooh for the first time! I love their smiles and amazement at seeing us, but I will say, everyone loves Piglet the best!
Diana and Peter arrived today! They've been driving across the country this week and finally pulled into our driveway around 4:30. We drove them out here the end of last month but they had to go back to New Jersey to sell Peter's house and tie up loose ends before coming out for good. Well, temporarily for good. They plan to move back there again in about 10 years. But for now, they are here! It's hard to describe the feeling when all your kids live nearby. I read once: 'Having kids is like having your heart go walking around outside your body.' But then having them move across the country?! Some days the feelings were indescribable.
Do your kids live nearby or far away?

I understand. Our one and only left home after college and marriage to move to Boston…7 states away. It is hard!
I love your header. Looks like a fun Halloween party. I started tearing up when you talked about your kids living nearby. Adam, Gabby and James are here but our daughter Amber and Dylan are in Montana. There were in town for James' 3rd birthday and I've been down ever since they left on the 20th. Years ago families seemed to stay in one place. I miss that.
What a wonderful treat to have all your kids close by. Glad the newlyweds made it safely across the country!
My two boys and their loved ones have lived far away for the last 32 years. I've gotten used to it but would sure like to see them more often. I am happy for you!! xo
All of our kids are scattered across the US... hate that.
Love all the costumes - so fun to see how creative people get with the trunk or treats!
My last 2 post have Trunk N Treat pictures. We had a drive through last year too. Send some rain to us! :) We are luck to have our kids so close and we get to see our kids often. It's nice to have more freedom now that Covid numbers are going down! Have a great week Cindy!
Right now, 13 of our kids live close by, here in central NY state. One daughter lives in Salem, Oregon, with her husband and two kids, one son in California with his husband, one son in Virginia with his wife and two kids...I hate having far-away grandchildren, it's so hard. I am super thankful for FaceTime though! Next week, I'll be flying out to Oregon for a few days...I'll fall in love with those grandkids all over again, then have to say good bye again...it's hard. One of my sons was in the Army, stationed in Seattle, then he stayed there and bought a house, he and his wife had a baby, it was so hard, but he moved back here a few years ago, so thankful for that! It is really hard to have the kids so far away! I'm happy for you to have them close by, so nice to have a good close family, too! I love the birthday pictures, and you're a good sport to dress up for Trunk or Treat!
