It surprised me when I looked at the calendar and realized how long it's been since I've posted. There's been a lot going on so I'll try to update you without rambling on too much. 😊
I took the header photo picture of Beth in front of the Brattle Book Shop when we were in Boston for Diana and Peter's wedding back in September of '21. We decided to go for a walk and when we got out of the hotel, decided to just go around the block. Then we came across this cute little book store.
Right after my last post I flew to San Diego to spend some time with my sister. We try to get together a couple times a year but as we get older it seems to be getting harder. We do our best to make it happen though.
While I was there she put her dog Nalla down. She was a German shepherd and had lost the use of her back legs. She was 12 years old and there was nothing that could be done to help her so it was time. It was really hard but I was glad I was there. Got to say good-bye to Nalla, and was a little distraction for my sister.
In spite of that, we played games, took walks around her small mobile home park, and laughed a lot.
I took this when they visited us in 2020
Bougainvillea!
We don't have this in Seattle and it's so nostalgic when I visit San Diego
Parcheesi! This was our mom's favorite game
After I got home I realized I never got a picture of my sister and I, so here's one from when I was down there last year.
The dining room ready for the Pastor's Dinner
We left a little after 9:00 Wednesday night and were back there at 6:30 Thursday morning to begin making the box lunches. Our team leader said we needed to make 340 lunches - each day. That's a lot of sandwiches! We made a large assembly line and it took us about three hours to get them all done. Then we packed the boxes with a liner, sandwich, fruit, chips, cookie and napkin. All packed with prayers that the Lord would touch each heart and meet the needs of every person attending.
There's more to tell you but I'll close for now. I'm catching up on laundry today (we got the day off) and all those little things that just pile up after a while. 😊
Have a great week!

My goodness and God bless you and the work you do!! Great photo of Beth and of you and your sister!! Nice to catch up with you!
That was a great blessing to have the dinner and all those lunches provided. So well planned out. Glad you could be part of the team effort. I can understand the need to sit in the recliner after those days of standing!! How sweet to be able to spend the time with your sister. blessings!
Sounds like you had a nice time in Boston. So sorry to hear about your sister's dog, but nice to hear that you had a nice visit with her. Yes, we have a bougainvillea and I love it. Nice photo of you and your sister. I often forget to take photos too. Glad you got to serve the meals. The dining room looks lovely. Wow, that's a lot of lunches.
Hope you have a nice week. Take care.
You've had quite a time. I'm so sorry about your sister's dog. Sometimes I forget to get photos too. Love seeing all those boxes lined up. that's a terrific image!
Hello! You are such a blessing to so many, my friend. Your being there with your sister at such a hard time was so nice. And Parcheesi???? I totally forgot about that! My Gram had that at her house. That photo took me right back. Thank you for that. Rest and enjoy the day!
So much work!! Glad it turned out so well. My favorite game was playing Yahtzee with my grandma.
I am way behind in reading, and just saw this. That was a lot of sandwiches to make each day! Wow! But oh, what a blessing that conference must have been for the Pastors and wives and staff that participated. I remember going to such conferences when we were in the ministry, and I know I loved the time to get away from our normal routines for a few days and be with others of like minds and responsibilities and be ministered to instead of being the ones doing the ministering. Always a blessing. Thank you for being a part of that ministering to God's "shepherds of the flocks". That is a blessing.
Heavens that was a lot of preparation for the conference. I know your efforts were appreciated, though. That was quite something to have leaders from 115 churches meeting together.
I think we may have passed that little bookstore when we were in Boston in 2023. Seems I remember the bookshelves lined up outside the building. Very quaint.
